Poverty is a condition in which people lack the basic necessities of life, such as food, water, shelter, and healthcare. I believe poverty is the greatest injustice in the world today, because being deprived of life’s necessities is the destitution of dignity which is fundamental to all human rights.

According to the United Nations, 736 million people live in extreme poverty, defined as living on less than $1.90 per day. The majority of these people live in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Poverty is a major cause of death and disease, and it prevents people from reaching their full potential.

There are many things that can be done to help end poverty. One important step is to provide access to clean water and sanitation. According to the World Health Organization, 785 million people lack access to clean water, and 2.3 billion people lack access to improved sanitation. These conditions can lead to the spread of disease and make it difficult for people to live healthy lives.

Another important step is to address hunger. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, 821 million people do not have enough to eat. Hunger can lead to malnutrition, which can stunt growth and development. It can also make people more susceptible to disease.

Education is also essential for ending poverty. According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, 262 million children and adolescents are out of school. Education can help people develop the skills they need to get a job and earn a living. It can also help people understand their rights and how to participate in society.
